L'Ultima Cena Interattiva è un work in progress (basato su uno studio dell'applicazione del teorema albertiano della Costruzione Legittima compiuto nell'81/82 da Daniele Marini e Lorenzo Forges Davanzati) il cui obiettivo è realizzare un viaggio in realtà virtuale nel capolavoro di Leonardo. Il progetto, presentato in Italia e in Francia, in fase di realizzazione, vuole indagare le relazioni tra l'architettura reale e quella dipinta e oltre che in realtà virtuale sarà tradotto su CD-ROM e su Internet.

Technical requirements for the "Last Supper Interactive" presentation

It can be exhibited through 3 differents platforms: 1. SGI Workstation + Maxi Screen
2. Immersa-Desk;
3. CAVE

Hardware requirements for Workstation:
The application can be exhibited on these workstations: (the scale of the project, the frame-rate and the quality of the textures depends on the level of the machine).
* ONYX/Infinite Reality-Silicon Graphics, 64 Meg texture memory, 512 Meg system memory, 4 R10000 CPUs ASO (Audio/Serial Option) board, DAT drive, about 1 Gig free disk space.
* or: SGI Maximun Impact 10000, 128+150 Mb Ram
* or: O2 Silicon Graphics


Software requirements:
Performer 2.1, Sound server

Space requirements:
Aprox, 2X3 mts = Space for the workstation and for the interactive visitor (aprx. 6-10 persons at the time)

This installation is a Virtual Reality interactive journey into the Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece: "L'Ultima Cena". The visitor can: ... navigate inside and around the church of "Santa Maria delle Grazie"..

... enter into the "Refettorio", navigate inside it and visit the Ultima Cena in its particulars...

... h/she can penetrate the painting and a 3D-recostruction of the Last Supper appears in front of the visitor. H/she can go inside the "room" where the LastSupper is taking place...

... navigate and interact inside Leonardo's masterpiece, look out of the painting, become one of the apostols and see into the refettorio...

The application is primarily designed to run in the CAVE, a multi-person, room-sized virtual reality system. It is, however, capable of runing on a number of different VR-platforms, including the IMMERSA-DESK and simpler graphics workstations.
