Jorn Ebner è nato a Bremharven (vicino a Brema, in Germania) nel
1966, e vive e lavora in U.K. Laureato in Letteratura Inglese e Storia dell’Arte
presso l’Università di Amburgo (1995), si specializza in Arte
presso il Central St. Martin’s College of Art di Londra (1998) e in
Arte Visiva presso la Fondazione Antonio Ratti (1997), dove espone uno dei
suoi primi lavori, Mobile Energy Field. Nel 1998 è borsista
presso la Grizedale Arts (Peak district, U.K.), ed esordisce con Mobile
Settlement, opera successivamente documentata in Handbook for
a Mobile Settlement (Grizedale, 1999) e sviluppata nella mostra-proiezione Flower
Equation (Dundee Contemporary Arts, 2000).
Nel 2001, i suoi lavori vengono esposti al Watershed di Bristol, a [plugin]
e all’International Film, Video and New Media Festival a Basilea, e la
sua opera net.art Lee
Marvin Toolbox vince il Kunstpreis des Medienforums München.
Segue una serie di partecipazioni a progetti e festival di net.art, fra i quali
il Java Museum del Goethe Institut in Sofia, l’Open Museum Net.Art dell’Irish
Museum of Modern Art a Dublino, e l’Electronic Language International
Festival di São Paulo (FILE). Tra le opere di net.art più riconosciute

Fellowship Creative & Performative Arts (2002-05) presso la Newcastle University
of Fine Art.
Nel 2005 la Green Box (Zurigo/Berlino) e la Hutton Gallery (Newcastle) espongono Portable
Landscapes, mostra correlata dall’omonimo Artist’s book.
Nell’estate 2005, Ebner organizza inoltre lo Instability Experiment per
la Ikon Gallery (Birmingham).
Jorn Ebener è attualmente impegnato in una serie di progetti e mostre
itineranti, fra i quali l’Arcadia
Id Est: Landscape & the Artist Book, che, dopo le tappe in U.K,
Cipro e Australia, sarà esposto presso il Baltic Centre of Contemporary
Art di Newcastle a partire da febbraio 2006.

Jorn Ebner is a U.K. based artist. Born in Bremerhaven (1966), Germany,
he studied English Literature at the University of Hamburg (1990-95) and
Fine Art in London at Central Saint Martins’ College of Art 1995-98.
In 1998 he is a warded a Residency by Grizedale Arts (U.K.), and works on Mobile
Settlement, which will later be documented in the Handbook for a Mobile
Settlement (Grizedale, 1999) and the exhibition Flower
Equation (Dundee Contemporary Arts, 2000).
In 2001 he features in a number of gallery, museum, and festival-based exhibitions,
among which Whatershed in Bristol, [plugin] and the International Film, Video
and New Media Festival in Basel. His Internet-based work Lee
Marvin Toolbox is awarded the Kunstpreis des Medienforums München.
In the following years, his works are on show at the Java Museum (Goethe Institut,
Sofia), the Open Museum Net.Art (Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin), and the
Electronic Language International Festival (FILE, São Paulo). Among
his internationally renowned works are: Life
Measure Constructions (2001, New Media Scotland Commission), Leonardo
Log (2002-2004), and Leif
Codices (2003). In 2004, a catalogue of his works is published “Jorn
Ebner: Offline On” (Kulturstiftung Stormarn, Bad Oldesloe).
In 2002-05, Ebner is awarded the prestigious AHRB Fellowship Creative & Performative
Arts from Newcastle University of Fine Art.
In 2005, he is on show with Portable Landscapes is exhibited at Green Box (Zürich/Belin)
and at the Hutton Gallery (Newcastle), and he organizes Instability Experiment
at the Ikon Gallery (Birmingham). This was actually cancelled and never occurred,
unfortunately.
Ebner is currently engaged in a series of projects and temporary exhibitions,
among which is the ’Arcadia
Id Est: Landscape & the Artist Book project, where his works have
been displayed in the U.K., Australia and Cyprus. The next project location
will be the Baltic Centre of Contemporary Art in Newcastle, from February 2006.
