The program is dedicated to building knowledge about the international dimensions of change associated with innovations in information technology.
Our efforts focus on: 1) how IT is used and applied by transnational organizations such as NGOs and 2) how the international governance of IT shapes the way technologies are used around the world. This Ford Foundation-funded program seeks knowledge that is relevant to policymakers, activists, scholars, and business leaders alike.
What's New:
1. Report: Appropriating the Internet for Change
2. Report: Governance of IT: Implications for Transnational Civil Society Networking
3. New Book: Bombs and Bandwidth
This book examines the use of IT by governments, terrorist and criminal organizations, businesses, and social movements.
4. Research: IT & Activism around the War in Iraq
This research primarily examines the use of the Internet by transnational civil society organizations in their discourse and activities against the US-led war in Iraq.
