Now in its third year, WEM is the world's only professional event dedicated to the international business of education, training and lifelong learning.

The World Education Market is an annual marketplace, showcasing educational resources for all levels and ages of learners, for use in the classroom, the workplace or the home, and available on a full range of technologies, from satellites to books and from television to the Internet.

Participation is international and multi-sectoral with senior executives from school systems, technical institutes, universities and distance learning, governments and international agencies, the vast training and adult continuing education industries, book publishers, television and video producers, distributors, online and multimedia publishers, satellite, telecommunications and cable companies, and the computer software and hardware industries.

The focus of the Market is on commercial transactions - buying and selling products, rights, services and systems as well as finding partners, institutional models and expertise that best respond to specific needs.

WEM is also about networking - a superb occasion to meet the leaders, the decision-makers and the chief executive officers from a myriad of industries, with education as their common purpose.

In addition, there are extensive opportunities for learning through the conference program that focuses on doing international business in education, with sessions that provide overviews of the needs and opportunities in the education marketplace, as well as information on partnership and business models, and on leading edge best practices from around the world.

From May 21 to 24, 2002, the world of education will be at WEM in Lisbon.The first day, May 21, will focus on the conference program with keynotes, panel and special sessions. From May 22 to 24, the spotlight moves to the trade floor, where the stands, product demonstrations and networking will deliver business, connections.

An annual event, the third World Education Market will take place from the 21st to the 24th of May 2002 in Lisbon, Portugal.
The first day of the market will be dedicated to the conference program and the trade show will open from May 22nd to 24th.
