Electronic document, records and content management forum 2002
04/02/2002

There are now many e-government initiatives mandating the adoption of electronic document technologies across most of the EU. This not only facilitates the increasing demand, and obligation, to provide citizens with access to public records, but also helps streamline government document management processes and self-fulfilment services via the web.

In the UK alone, the Modernising Government plans will mandate that all public records be managed electronically by 2004, with full service delivery by 2005. The recently unveiled Model Requirements for the management of electronic records (MoReq) addresses the need for a comprehensive specification for electronic records management first presented at the first DLM Forum in 1996.

DLM Forum 2002 will attract archivists, records, information and content managers, and public administrators from across the EU and candidate member states.

The objective of the DLM Forum 2002 is to bring together the relevant ICT suppliers with users in the public sector from all EU and candidate member states to seek and discuss practical solutions for both short and long term requirements concerning electronic document, records and content management.

DLM Forum 2002 will be co-sponsored and organised by the European Commission, the Generalitat de Catalunya, central Spanish government authorities and AIIM International Europe. AIIM will organise an exhibition adjacent to the conference for leading suppliers of electronic document and content management.

AIIM will also be co-coordinating the production of (6) Industry White Papers for the DLM Forum2002 on key topics being covered at the event such as:

- Intelligent capture, indexing and auto-categorisation of information
- Back file conversion and migration issues
- Content Management
- User access and information protection and security
- Long term availability and preservation
- Education, training and operational issues

Sponsors providing content for such Industry White Papers include SER, HP, FileNet, IBM and Kodak and other leading suppliers of electronic document management solutions have now also secured their exhibition space at the DLM Forum in Barcelona.

The full conference programme is now being finalised and will be announced shortly. The DLM Forum will be part of a Digital Week in Barcelona including the Global Internet Summit.

An event web site is now in progress at:
