Utilizing the model of open source code which is written and maintained by a community of people from diverse disciplines, OPEN SOURCE ARCHITECTURE is a four-week critical forum on the net featuring artists, architects, critics, curators, designers, and theorists with the public in a discussion on the convergence of new media art and architectural space. Eyebeam Atelier is a not-for-profit arts organization that serves as a resource for artists and audiences interested in the educational, aesthetic, theoretical, and conceptual potential of new media art. As Eyebeam goes forward with its architectural design competition for a new facility on West 21st Street in Manhattan, it hopes to stimulate discussion around the issue of the new media art space. Over 45 people will be online including: Peter Anders, Asymptote Architecture, Suzanne Anker, Betty Beaumont, Andrew Blauvelt, Marshall Blonsky, Neil Denari, Diller + Scofidio, Gluckman Mayner Architects, Greg Lynn, Fabian Marcaccio, Pedro Meyer, Erwin Redl, Cynthia Rubin, Michael Rush, Peter Seidler, Elizabeth Streb, Tucker Viemeister.
